2018 Mtaa’s finest champion ASSYLUM, is an urban reggae dancehall artist, known for feel good vibes and catchy harmonies rooted in groovy reggae dancehall and afro-beats.
He is passionate about music as a tool of healing and connecting people. He fell in love with music from a tender age but started pursuing it professionally in 2011. Since then he has garnered a few accolades. In 2018 he won MTAA’S FINEST by Turning tables Kenya.
Subsequently, he went on to release a single; GEUKA and a collaboration with an EDM dj titled; TURN IT UP which got massive rotation both locally and abroad.
In 2019, he won the WHO IS NEXT competition by industry nite. He also featured in an international riddim by Zimbabwe producers, Red fox.
In 2020, during the pandemic he was among the few musicians selected to participate in the presidential corona message program.
Currently, he is amongst 15 musicians selected to participate in a music incubator program, implemented by GIZ through ADMI and Goethe Institut.
Assylum is a multi-faceted creative force, doubling as an actor and filmmaker. He has featured in local and
international productions such as; SHUGA, SENSE 8, JONI, ACCIDENTAL KIDNAPPING, PREM, MY TWO WIVES, and a multitude of Tv commercials and voice dubbing projects. Termed as a progressive artist by Turning Tables, and an electric performer by Industry nite. Assylum is currently working on new singles as well as an album.
